ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC II)Teluk Kampar, Pelalawan, Riau

ASEAN-Swiss Partnership Programme on Social Forestry and Climate Change Phase 2 (ASFCC II) was designed to support the ASEAN Multi-sectoral Framework for Climate Change: Agriculture and Forestry towards Food Security (AFCC) through the ASEAN Social Forestry Network (ASFN).

The ASFCC focuses on three strategic components: (i) policy development; (ii) knowledge sharing, networking and capacity building; and (iii) learning interventions in the themes of Social Forestry (SF) in pursuit of climate change (CC) mitigation and adaptation (CCAM); food and livelihood security; sustainable natural resources management; and inclusive development in ASEAN Member States (AMS) considering the context of very high vulnerability due to climate change in most of the AMS. The project aims to achieve these by achieving three outcomes: (i) a co-ordinated social forestry framework; (ii) strengthening of local, national, and regional knowledge sharing, communication and networking activities; and (iii) conducting learning interventions and best practices in SF and CC. The activities are implemented by a group of global and regional organisations mandated to provide knowledge, learning, advocacy and capacity building. The activities pursued range from basic and global research by CIFOR, capacity building and training by RECOFTC, agro-forestry knowledge development and policy outreach by ICRAF, NTFP products based enterprise development and civil society engagement by NTFP-EP, and the ASFN Strategic Response Fund (ASRF) for country-driven initiatives implemented by SEARCA.
